½ teaspoon of salt, preferably kala namak
¼ teaspoon of garlic powder
¼ teaspoon of onion powder
⅛ teaspoon of turmeric
⅛ teaspoon of black pepper
⅛ teaspoon of cumin powder (optional)
¼ cup of nutritional yeast
¼ cup of water
1 tablespoon of tamari sauce
¼ cup of vegan mayonnaise
1 teaspoon of prepared mustard
1 package of regular, extra-firm tofu
Add your dry ingredients to a mixing bowl. Mix in all of the wet ingredients, except the tofu. The mixture should be thin enough that tofu can be easily stirred into it. If it is too thick, the tofu will break into tiny pieces as you stir it in. Add more water, if necessary, to adjust the consistency.
Rinse the tofu and pat it dry. Crumble the tofu into your bowl and mix gently.
Fry in a non-stick skillet with a small amount of oil until the tofu's been lightly browned on the outside but is still soft on the inside.
